Design Work Portfolio inherited a semi constructed structure on site,  a conversion from serviced apartments to a Courtyard by Marriott, stimulated by the strategic location of the development.

The design team ingeniously delivered the transition of apartments to guestrooms simultaneously respecting the built structure on site with minimal modifications.

The massing of the double volume at the lobby was the only element which triggered the demolition of a first floor slab to allow for the now astounding two storey tall feature wall behind the reception and the concrete sheer wall opposite the entrance. ‘Ahlan’ meaning welcome in Arabic, is the key word inspiration for the guest room design, the word being literally embossed in the guestroom headboard panelling.
